Because the Arlberg is a gift
What we do to ensure that the Haldenhof can continue to be a meeting place for people from all over the world for generations to come.
The Haldenhof has never been a place that simply follows trends. For decades, many of our decisions have been guided by conviction: because they make sense, because they help protect our home, and because they reflect the way we believe in being hosts.
For us, sustainability does not mean perfection. It means taking responsibility and making conscious choices with the aim of becoming a little better every day.

The alpine landscape surrounding the Haldenhof is our home. We treat it with care – through high-quality products, durable materials and a thoughtful combination of the old and the new.
Many small measures can make a big difference when combined. These include:
Repair rather than replace: Solid wooden furniture, restored by craftsmen in neighbouring Tyrol, or pictures given a new lease of life with new frames – we preserve what has quality rather than replacing it unnecessarily.
Reduce and separate: Targeted waste reduction through staff training and the conscious use of reusable products, such as durable drinking cups and water bottles.
Appreciate and reuse: We handle food consciously and work to reduce food waste – for example, dried bread goes to the carriage horses in Lech, while suitable leftovers are used for pigs kept by local farmers.
Modernise and renew: We use CO₂-neutral district heating from the biomass heating plant in Lech, provide our own EV charging stations for cars and bicycles, and use precisely calibrated dosing systems for laundry and dishwashing detergents.

For us, shorter distances mean quality, trust and responsibility.
Local beverages: Soft drinks from Dornbirn, beer from Frastanz and a strong focus on Austrian wines.
Fresh craftsmanship: Our bread is freshly baked every day and delivered directly from the bakery in Lech.
Shorter supply chains: Wherever possible, we choose food from regional producers, as well as durable furniture and textiles from Austria and Europe.
Lech spring water: Our in-house water carbonation system eliminates more than 90% of the transport associated with bottled mineral water.

Hospitality begins with the people who bring it to life. For generations, we have valued a respectful and family-like atmosphere. Many members of our team have been with us for many years – something we are particularly proud of.
For us, this includes:
Building long-term relationships with our team: Treating each other with respect and as equals, maintaining an open culture of communication, sharing meals and celebrating birthdays together.
Creating a place to feel at home: Providing high-quality, modern accommodation in our own staff residence.
Fair partnership: Paying above the collective agreement rate, supporting continuous professional development and involving our team in decision-making processes.
A strong community: Nurturing personal relationships with employees, suppliers, neighbours and guests across generations.
Commitment to Lech: Actively supporting the Ski Club Arlberg and its youth programmes and contribution to the local community, as well as supporting projects and events such as the Christmas Market and the Lech Classic Festival.
A family business does not think in quarterly figures, but in generations.
For us, economic success does not mean running an anonymous “money-making machine”. It means caring for the Haldenhof like a precious jewel and managing it in such a healthy, independent and stable way that we can provide secure jobs in the long term, reliably meet our financial commitments and, one day, pass the hotel on to the next generation stronger than we found it.
We do not believe in perfection.
A hotel requires energy and resources.
People travel to us from all over the world.
We leave a footprint.
